Orangeburg Pipe was manufactured in Orangeburg NY from 1893 until 1972. Made from 'bitumenized' wood pulp, it made effective electrical conduit and not so hot sewer pipe, although a 1.5 mile water line in Boston was in use for 50 years.
I have selected Orangeburg Pipe as the title for this blog as I expect this blog to serve as a conduit of useful information about goings-on here at the Orangeburg Library: new books, events, and whatever else the Obrarian might think interesting to our patrons.
